10,000 people attend to see performances by Jefferson Airplane, Arthur Brown, The Move, T. Rex, Fairport Convention, and others. The Isle of Wight Music Festival goes on to be a pillar of the counterculture. In 1970, it was estimated that 600,000 people attended, surpassing Woodstock.
